I am often surprised how dumb the search on BrickLink is, especially compared
to the similar search in BrickLink Studio, which I use very ofen and which is
very handy. Just two examples to illustrate the issue:

Type "tec pla"
BrickLink Studio: finds all technic plates
BrickLink finds nothing.

Type "plate 3"
BrickLink Studio: finds all plates that have a "3" somewhere in the name,
e.g. "plate 1 x 3"
BrickLink finds some strange parts and even the technic plate "with 3 holes",
but not the normal 1x3 or 2x3 or 3x3 plates. Too obvious?

For BrickLink you really need to memorize the exact names.

Why cannot BrickLink use the same search algorithm as Studio, just searching
for any words or word parts anywhere in the result? Or at least offer this type
of search as optional alternative if you fear people will get too many results
this way.

Hi BrickLink team,

I would like to be able to separately specify the amout of needed parts
as well as the amount of optional wanted parts to purchase on a "Wanted
List".

The rationale behind this is as following:

I need a certain number of parts for building a model, but often I'd like
to order a few extra parts anyway as long as they don't make the order
more complicated or require more shop orders to be opened.

Essentially the logic for creating the orders would be:

- First, only consider the mandatory parts (as it is currently), create the shopping
carts based on lowest price (including shipping costs) and the limitations specified
by the user.
- However, if a shop has an unmet order minimum, do not discard the shop if this
minimum can be reached including some optional parts.
- Then check each selected shop if any of them can provide the remaining optional
parts and add them to the already existing orders for those shop(s) which offers
the lowest price for each part.
- In other words: Ignore any optional parts that would cause (a) another order
to be created or would require me to buy another unfinished batch of parts (in
case a shop sells the part only in batches of 10, 100 etc.).
- In the end, ideally provide a statistics which mandatory vs. optional parts
could be included vs. are still open from the Wanted List.

Thank you.

When reconstituting a set from boxes of sorted parts, it's handy to work
your way down the set's parts list sorted by category. Unfortunately, the
color comes first. So for instance, having picked a black technic axle and gone
on to other technic parts, I have to come back to the axle box to get a yellow
axle. I'd like to sort so that all colors of axle are together. Or, say,
all the 2x4 plates regardless of color.

I would love to see a way to print my wanted list without the reset of the screen
printing as well.

Thank you,

Currently the REST API (https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page) does not support
the cross-site access (CORS or JSONP). That makes it impossible to access the
API from a React app for example and requires a server-side component.

Could you enable the cross-site access by either adding the "Access-Control-Allow-Origin:
*" response header to the API (relatively easy change) or adding JSONP support
(a bit harder and it's an older method for cross-site JS API).

It would be awesome to have Stud.io as an app to draw models on a tablet.

Please add a speed-bump, such that new members can post to the Forum,
but not if they insert more than three links into the message text. Right now
all the spam messages I see (like the one this morning, and the parade of gummie
spam over the past year) have 10-20-more links sprayed down the body of the message.

Limiting zero feedback members to three links, should in no way impact legitimate
users, but it might slow down the spam kids such to make spamming here more difficult.

Add “submit changes” buttons to the top and middle of inventory pages so that
you don't have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to submit changes.

**Not everyone uses (or wants to use) non-BL inventory apps.**

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/myCollection/main.page seems yet to be entirely
a private list. A setting would be nice to let me publish this collection, so
other users (or even guests) are also able to view it.

Otherwise I'm not sure about the practical use to compile such a list at
all. At least for users (for Lego such lists may have a value).

Hi there.
Following up on the just just send out newsletter;

It stated clearly that sets have to be marked as a custom set , instead as "incomplete"
when minifigures are missing.

As of now the rules on this are somewhat subject to point of view.

Also it states on the page before the definitions that incomplete sets status
does count when minififures are missing.

"Item For Sale Condition (New/Used) and Sub-Condition (Complete/Incomplete/Sealed)
must adhere to their respective Definitions. For example, sets which have been
previously built must be listed as Used. Sets without Minifigures must be listed
as Incomplete."

From page :
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=103

"Incomplete - Contents are brand new, but may have been removed from plastic
bags for inventory purposes or to remove other contents from the set. The set
is missing some of the contents, instructions or original box/packaging. The
description should clearly state what exactly is missing."

From page :
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102

Kijd regards.

While uploading a partlist with old IDs (pre-part variant merge), the parts with
IDs that changed cause the partlist to fail import. While it's annoying to
go through the XML to correct these errors, it's at least a solution. However,
it feels like a huge missed opportunity to not be backwards compatible at all.
The upload tool should either automatically correct these errors or to at least
suggest the corrections.

However, more egregious is that when you import such a partlist into Studio as
a part palette, the import silently ignores these old part IDs without giving
any error or warning. The parts will just be missing from the palette, causing
confusio

Hi team I'd like to make a suggestion. For those who are using Android/Chromebook
and Ipad, it would be great to have a version of Stud IO/Part designer that would
work on those devices unless it's already the case and I don't know it.

Hi again and again...

Without official news from the side of Bricklink (Again), I was wondering if
it's
not simpler to create a tool for Canadian seller to create "region on shipping
methods regarding the province of the Buyer.

By example: A seller from Quebec (Like me) will only need to create 4 shipping
methods.
- 5% GST for AB/BC/MB/NT/NU/SK/YK.
- 13% HST Ontario
- 14.98% GST+QST Quebec
- 15% HST for NB/NL/NS/PEI

But the catch is that the buyer only see the shipping methods corresponding to
his residence Province. Like that a buyer from Quebec will only see the Quebec
shipping method, an Ontarian will only see the Ontario one, etc.

Personally, I think it shouldn't be too difficult to "filter" the
buyers with their province. When they create their account, they choose their
Province in the address. The province is already stock in the database for each
Canadian account.

On the buyer side, he could assign the shipping method a new kind of region selection
in the section Destination & Base rate. If you find something much simpler to
allow the Seller to filter by province, let's go !

On the picture, an example of what it could look like

For now, I have 4 shipping methods instant checkout like in my example, but it
is the buyer who needs to choose the right one and many, ... many times they
simply
choose the default one who was the one with the cheaper charges. In that case
it is the 5% taxes who covered only the GST.

By hoping, something will happen in the near future.

Best regards

This should be a no-brainer.

Please add state sales tax or other taxes such as VAT to the invoice.

It is very annoying to see:

Total: US $43.77
Shipping: US $10.80
Insurance: US $0.00
Additional Charges: US $1.00
Credit: US $0.00
Grand Total: US $57.94

$43.77
$10.80
$ 1.00
-------
$55.57

There is clearly a discrepancy between the Grand Total and what is actually showing
for charges. Since taxes are not included in those charges, the discrepancy must
be the taxes.

1) This discrepancy will likely confuse many buyers.
2) Anyone who prints the invoice for business reasons will not have a paper record
of the taxes paid.
3) In case of an audit, having a record of taxes paid on paper is beneficial.

I was recently purchasing parts for two different builds that were in different
want lists.

I discovered you can only easy buy for a single wantlist at a time which meant
losing a lot of the efficiency of a single order, and because some of the orders
were small meant not qualifying for the minimum order, even though the combined
total of the wantlists was sufficient.

I subsequently merged the XML files by writing a Python script and reported it
as a new want list. This would be much easier if it were an internal feature.
Preferably I would select distinct want lists and easy buy would merge on the
back end so that I can maintain the sorting of the part lists, but it would be
acceptable to have a "merge want lists" feature internally.

This tool needs to resolve the very common situation that there will be duplicate
parts between lists being merged. Ideally it would use the merged total for calculations
but have a drop down showing the two required amounts from the premerged sources.
The former is simple the latter a little more difficult since the XML format
doesn't have a tag that would allow this.

Thank you.

Hello,

This morning I was importing an XML file with the attached results. In every
case, removing the letter from the part number correctly resolved the issue,
but I noticed while confirming the parts that for each of these parts the site
has recorded the below numbers as "alternate item numbers".

My suggestion is that the import utility also search the alternate numbers when
attempting to import, and update the Wanted List with the most appropriate current
number. This should probably generate an import warning message but should allow
the import to proceed.

Thank you

Seems to me anyway, that simply restricting zero feedback members the use of
links in the forum, would immediately eliminate most current spam posts and deter
future ones. Haven’t been looking that close at these posts, but from what I’ve
seen, it’s presenting links they have as a common purpose or motivation. Removing
motivation is often a subtle yet effective tack in life.

Could be that it’s not all that simple, technically to implement. I don’t know,
but if doable, why not? Personally don't find the spam posts all that bothersome.
Many do though, and if there's an easy fix to tidy things up a bit...
